Week 603 - The Coupon Trail Week #2 - 03-04-2018
The Coupon Trail Week #2
We spent 9 days at the Escapees' KofA Ko-op Retreat. Then we poured over our coupons looking for our next stay in Yuma. KofA stands for King of Arizona, from a mine of that name in Yuma County.
We have a nice coupon for Westwind RV in Yuma where we will stay a week from now.
We have a friend Elaina there and good friends Tim and Vikki
are coming in the 2nd week of March. So we have a week to fill in before Westwind. We have a BoGo coupon for Blue Sky RV Ranch. Buy a week for $225 and get a free second week, totaling only $112.50 per week.
A great deal, but we only have a week. Hmmm! We have 3 free days at Sundance RV in Yuma, but that leaves
us 4 days short. What to do? Just 30 miles to the East is Wellton, Arizona. No coupons, but this town has lots of RV park and all of them are far cheaper than Yuma.
So we headed off to Wellton which is a lovely little town.
We chose Pioneer RV Park. Their winter (high season) weekly price is just $150.00 or $21/night.
There are lots of park models, lot of four-wheelers and lots of Canadians.
We don't win bingo, raffles and other games of chance. But, we are lucky in getting good sites without even asking. All the sites at Pioneer are large. Ours is a nice corner site.
In the tree at our front door is a hummingbird sitting on her nest. She had eggs when we arrived
and babies in a few days.
Pioneer has cable TV and pickleball and we like both.
We could have taken a photo when PB players were playing.
However, the court is empty 22 and 1/2 hours a day! Unlike GVP in Hemet, players
here wait until 9:30am to start.
And they are done by 11:00 or earlier. Surprisingly, with only 8 players, we had good competition.
1) Ellen worked with Mandy at the dog park. This is Mandy's best trick: sitting and obeying NO commands.
2) Nonetheless, she still needed a nap after the work out.
We however, needed no naps playing less than 90 minutes of pickleball each day. But, nice people,
warm weather and a low rate. Yeah! We might come here again. Down the road, just 12 miles East,
in Tacna, is their sister park, Copper Mountain RV Park. The MONTHLY rate is $250 plus electric, nice!
Next week we'll head to Westwind to see our friends and of course, play pickleball.
How is Ellen's knee doing you ask? Not good, but she plays without complaining until there is more pain than fun.
What a trooper!
With love, Pete, Ellen and Mandy
