River Photo Collection #1

It's true, water just makes people happy! So we bring you our River Photo Collection in two parts.

The Sacramento River taken from the Diestelhorst Bridge, part of the Sacramento River Trail. The Sacramento Elks Lodge is on the right behind the trees.

Klamath River just before arriving at Blue Heron RV Park near Hornbrook, California.

The Willamette River runs right by Casey's Riverside RV Park near Oakridge, Oregon..

An early morning walk by the Skagit River just a few steps from North Cascades Newhalem Camp

Ellen enjoys a chat on the Methow River north of Riverbend RV Park and south of Winthrop, Washington.

The Columbia River is one our favorites. Starting in Canada it flows 1,243 miles to Astoria, Oregon passing by Beebe Bridge Park at Lake Chelan Falls, Washington.

Kayaking with Bryce and Mike on the Jefferson River and with Mike and Joyce on the Madison. The Jefferson, Madison and Gallitin Rivers join at Three Forks, Montana to form the Missouri River. The Jefferson River trip was our best ever, so sunny and warm that we would jump in the water at times and float next to the kayak.

The Madison River starts at Madison Junction in Yellowstone National Park formed by the confluence of the Gibbon and Firehole Rivers.

The Firehole River shown here after flowing through Upper Geyser Basin (home of Old Faithful).

The 1,078 mile long Snake River has given us our most exciting kayak rides. In 1974 on our honeymoon we floated the Snake starting here at the Jackson Lake dam. 34 years later we re-enacted our ride on the Snake and then continued with three more trips moving south.

Pete enjoys this Snake River Class III ride from West Table to Pine Bar just before the Snake enters Idaho. The beauty of this section is that it is a fun but wild ride with no dangerous rocks or strainers (riverside limbs that can grab you around the neck).

At Lewiston-Clarkston the Snake exits from Hell's Canyon into a peaceful meeting with the Clearwater River. Boat moored at Hell's Gate State Park. The Queen of the West paddle boat can take you from Clarkston all the way to Portland, Oregon just short of the Pacific Ocean.

From the top of the Old Spiral Highway you see the Clearwater River on the left merging with the Snake.

The Clearwater River parallels Highway 12 to Missoula, Montana. This 217 mile trip is one of the finest river-side roads in America. You are along the Clearwater, Lochsa, Crooked Fork and other rivers for almost the entire trip.

British Columbia has so many beautiful rivers. The Fraser is one of those as shown here in Lillooet, BC.

Fraser Cove RV Park was a wonderful "boutique" RV park on the Fraser. Only three sites were big enough for the MotherShip and it needed a three-point turn just to get down the hill. This early morning shot of the Fraser was north of Lillooet at Fountain Valley.

Muncho Lake, British Columbia is a must see especially when frozen over. North of the lake is Trout River on the way to Liard Hot Springs.

The 1,980 mile Yukon River flows past Whitehorse, Yukon shown here. The river starts in British Columbia, past Whitehorse, past Dawson City, Yukon on through to Western Alaska and into the Bering Sea.

That's part one, we hope you cruise with us for part two.

With love, Pete, Ellen and Mandy
