Week 395 - Tour 2014 Reality vs Planning Week 1 - 03-09-2014

Tour 2014, Reality vs Planning Week 1:

This is our second travelogue where we first presented our general plan to later show where we actually traveled.

And once again, we did what we planned!!! Oh my, we are so boring.

1. As planned we left Atascadero
2. Visited Cousin Judy in Nipomo for several days.

Went to church on Sunday at the Calvary Chapel in Santa Barbara. We were not sure we could find parking in this city. 1) Yes, the sign says Calvary Chapel.  After a couple trips around the block, we actually found parking for the Mothership; just a short walk to church.  2) Santa Barbara Calvary Chapel has beach seating and an "anchor cross".

3. Had lunch at SmashBurger in Thousand Oaks.
4. Stayed overnight Sunday at East Shore RV Park in San Dimas on Puddington Lake.

5. Parked at Clint and Jackie's house in Rancho Mirage on Monday.

6. Drove with Jackie to Algodones on Tuesday for Ellen's crown impression. Crowns here are only $200.  Oops! Turned out she needed a root canal which is an additional $340. This would require two more appointments; one on Friday at 9:00am (8:00am California time) to make an impression of her crown. The second appointment would be sometime on Saturday to install the crown. The timing would depend on the lab making the crown.

7. Returned to Clint and Jackies and stayed Tuesday and Wednesday.
8. Since Ellen needed two more appointments, rather than rent a car we drove the MotherShip to Algodones on Thursday and dry camped for free at the Quechen Casino just two miles north of the border.

We continue to be pleased with our Sony CyberShot DSC-HX200V camera. The moon above came in closer with the built-in 30 times zoom!

After Friday's appointment, the dentist said they could not install the crown on Saturday, but we must wait until Tuesday!  Normally, we would accept this as "we are always home".  However, we are trying to visit Karen and Gordon in Indio and have two possible web design appointments in Hemet and we need to get back to cousin Judy's house as quick as we can.  So we were the "pushy Americans" you always hear about and they accommodated us on Saturday. We stayed overnight again on Friday at the casino. Saturday's appointment was at 9:45am and we were back in the Mothership by 11am and on our way back to Palm Springs.

Just west of Yuma there was a little sand being blown on the road. That could be dangerous for the cars. But, no problem we were able to capture most of it into the Mothership!

On Sunday we visited The Bridge, Calvary Chapel of Palm Desert. Pastor gave a fabulous message on how Jesus amazed people and how Jesus himself was astonished at one time. More on this in another travelogue.

So week one worked out close to the plan. Next week we plan to visit Outdoor Resorts Indio, visit Gordon and Karen, pick up Melissa's doggie Sam and head to Hemet for web design projects. We are still waiting to hear from Outdoor Resorts Indio about doing a travelogue on their resort and the Hemet web jobs are tentative. So come back next week and see what happened.

Love, Pete, Ellen and Mandy
