Week 209-210 - Vancouver BC Photo Collection - 08-22-2010
Vancouver BC Photo Collection
The city, any city, is not a great place for your Big Rig
motorhome. But that's where the scooter comes in. At the risk of
being repetitive and boring, the scooter is the most awesome way to
visit the city, national park or any place where parking is at a
premium. You can always find parking near your destination and you
get great photos without windows or the car roof in your way.
So we left Capilano RV Park in North Vancouver and headed across
Lions Gate Bridge to Stanley Park, the northern entrance to the city
of Vancouver.
The Lions Gate Bridge spans the water between Burrard Inlet on the
left and Vancouver Harbor on the right.
Peering across Burrard Inlet you see North Vancouver while a
container ship heads toward Lions Gate.
Stanley Park is huge and gorgeous. Typical of Victoria on Vancouver
Island, Vancouver City and so many Canadian cities, thousands of
flowers bring joy to the visitors.
The raccoons are friendly and hoping to grab your crumbs.
We don't know. Is it just us, or does spending thousands of dollars
to prop up an hollow tree seem a little crazy?
A view of the city of Vancouver from Stanley Park.
You need to watch your overhead signs to determine which lane to
drive in. The directions of the lanes here on the bridge change
from the morning to afternoon to help with the flow of commuter
traffic.
This is the "Canadian" World Trade Center; very artistic.
The city is very clean and has an abundance of shops and sidewalk
restaurants.
They left just enough space between the streets to put up these very
thin but beautiful buildings.
A little advertisement for the Vancouver Canucks hockey team. The
Canuck's Roger's Arena is just a couple of miles from Stanley Park.
These apartments are surrounded by grass, water and flowers ...
... and just a short walk to the beach.
Back in Stanley Park as we head home ...
... we pass over Lion's Gate Bridge. A beautiful spring day for a
scooter ride.
And back to our "home" at Capliano RV Park.
Thanks for traveling with us,
Love, Pete and Ellen
