Week 131-132 - Golden Village Palms RV Resort - 02-22-2009
Welcome to Golden Village Palms RV Park
,
GVP is located in the city of Hemet in the San Jacinto Valley. It is
in the middle of farmland and surrounded by the San Jacinto Mountains
and foothills. Within a few miles of GVP are seven golf courses. If
that is not enough, there are dozens and dozens within a one-hour
drive. And within an easy walk or bike ride, you have every restaurant
you have ever heard of.
But you never need to leave GVP to stay busy. It is defined by it's
facilities, people and activities. There is
sand volleyball every day,
water aerobics, the fitness center, billiards, water volleyball in one
or two pools, indoor shuffleboard, putting green, Wednesday through
Saturday poolside burger bar with live music twice a week, dances,
potlucks, fun nights, card games, Internet center, golf outings,
quilting parties and more.
This is our third visit to GVP. We use the fitness center, pools, spas
and billiards. We enjoy the potlucks and dinners and eat out more than
we should (we can't help it with every restaurant within two miles).
But we come for the volleyball and those who play it! This group of
mature adults has so much fun and play everyday for hours. They come
each year from Canada, Illinois, Canada, Montana, Canada, other states
and oh yeah, did we mention Canada? It is this group that brought us
back for our second and third visits. And we already look forward to
coming back next winter.

We had the privilege of joining in on the Hemet GVP versus Indio Happy
Wanderers volleyball fun day. Each resorts hosts the other every other
year. This has been
a tradition for over 30 years!
There are lots of special events and we happen to be here for the
annual
dog walk and dog talent contest. A festive event.
What a great two weeks we had. Thanks to all at GVP. Next week we
will slowly work our way to Duarte, CA for Ellen's Uncle Bob's 90th
birthday party. Many of Ellen's family and relatives will be there.
Until next week, love, Pete and Ellen
