Week 38 - Fun, Family and Florida - 05-06-2007
Hello from sunny and smokey Florida,
Last week there was a huge forest fire in Georgia. We left Ron and
Ann's and stayed in a nice RV park in Lake City, Florida. We were
going to stay two nights but woke up to heavy smoke which made
breathing difficult. We headed to Daytona Beach, Florida and left the
smoke just 30 miles before Daytona. We met up with our granddaughter
Kalonie, her mom Sonya and grandparents Peter and Anita.
We visited their resort on the beach and the Daytona Lagoon water park.
We had a great time. Ellen visited a third day while Pete worked. On
the fourth day, the air was thick with smoke again, this time from a
fire in Ormond Beach, Florida, just a little north of us.
We left and out ran the smoke by heading north to St. Augustine,
Florida and then to Savannah, Georgia. Historic downtown Savannah was
very interesting. It was founded in 1733. The downtown area has 24
little parks, one about every three blocks. And two very large parks.
All of this in a 12 x 20 block area. There are shops and art galleries
along the River Front. We left Savannah and headed towards Atlanta,
GA. Next week we will meet up with the first RV couple that we met in
Las Vegas in May of 2006. Then we will fly out to San Diego for
Emily's boyfriend Chad's graduation.
We are also going to Santa Barbara for a scheduled operation on Ellen's
wrist. Ellen has had chest cold for a couple of days. Please pray for
her healing so the operation on May 15th will not be postponed.

We took the scooter to Cycle World in Daytona. This motorcycle shop
was huge on it own park. It had its own restaurant inside as well. This alligator was in their pond just a few feet from the parking lot.
This river boat was docked on River Street in Savannah where all the shops and
galleries are.

background.
See you next week (some of you, literally!)
Love, Pete and Ellen
P.S. to John H. Is Georgia east of Texas?
