Week 590-591 - Take Me Out to the Ball Game - 12-10-2017
Take Me Out to the Ball Game
We have been at Phoenix Christian School for two weeks doing dozens of little projects.
The staff is wonderful and appreciate our service. We appreciate the free RV hookups,
free lunches and their fresh baked cookies.
When we first began our travels in 2006 we decided to try things we have never done.
We went to a senior rodeo in Goodyear, Arizona. We took a 200 mile scooter ride circumnavigating
Zion National Park. We rode horses with our good friend Jeff in Colorado. In Dover, Delaware we
watched a NASCAR race at Dover Downs International Speedway.
This week we went to the NFL game with the Arizona Cardinals hosting the Los Angeles Rams.
As we have only watched football on TV, we thought it would be great to give a comparison
between being at the game versus seeing it on TV.

Mandy
No dogs allowed, Mandy must stay home
Mandy's happy to stay home. But, she did come down off the scooter when we left.
Driving Time
16.5 miles,
25 minutes,

Parking
You need to know that you must buy a parking pass online before you get to the stadium.
Waiting in line to NOT get a parking stop added 10 more minutes to our drive time.
We did find parking for $20 at the Nazarene Church just across the street from the stadium.
No pass needed.

Walk Time
30 minutes from the church to the stadium.
1) Now we see why Mandy wanted to come to the stadium. She loves lawns. 2) We pass by one
of the hundreds of "professional" tailgaters. 3) Moving along on our 1/2 mile walk to Gate 3.
The sign says that you cannot bring in a purse unless it is clear plastic.
Fortunately we learned this before we left the church. Otherwise you get to return to your
vehicle and walk again to the stadium. Add one mile, do not pass GO!
Our trip was slowed down looking for Gate 3. "Now, where's Gate 3? Anyone?"

Moo-ving through the Crowds
By the time we got to our seats, the score was Rams 3 to 0.
Next time, plan to get there two hours early, as we were told.
Finding our Seats
With a little help, we found our seats.
Those look very comfortable.
Two's company, 60,000's a crowd..

The View
View from our stadium seats.
View from our euro chairs.
Commercials
To really see the game, we watched it on the jumbotron.
And we didn't have to wait for commercials.
We got to see one after every play!
At home we had to wait 20 minutes to mute a commercial.
You don't get this at home.

Penalties
←
"Illegal motion in the backfield."
You don't get this either!
Heading Home
4th quarter, Rams 32, Cardinals 16; time to go home.
The crowds seemed thinner on the way home.
The church parking lot delay wasn't bad.
New venture? Yes. Fun? Yes. At $150.00 would we do it again? No!
And we didn't this time. Our host, Phoenix Christian School, gave us these tickets.
We came to bless them and they blessed us. A win-win for the Lord.
With love, Pete, Ellen and Mandy
