Week 333 - 2012 Tour Summary - 12-30-2012
Happy New Year!
Okay, by now we all realize that the Mattsons are not just taking a
spin around the United States. In 2006 we knew we would live in the
MotherShip full time or we would not have bought one so large. But,
we didn't really have a plan. After 30 years in the same house
raising six children, we just wanted a little vacation. But, now we
know, this is where we live; everywhere! We love coming home to see
family and friends. In fact, we have spent over 2 years out of the
last 7 at home! But, we really love the travel. So, off we go
again in 2013. How long will we do this? Until we stop.
Just a few facts about our travels.
We have traveled for 333 weeks, 87308 miles, 50 United States and
five Canadian provinces.
We have done our part to stimulate the economy, spending $51,904
.14
on diesel, gas and propane.
We have stayed 331 different RV parks / campgrounds and 135 other
free locations.
We have spent only $15
.026 per night for camping. Daily low
was Zero, high was $80
.00 at Durango Riverside Park in
Durango, Colorado.
We eat out far less as the MotherShip will not fit through the
Jack-In-The-Box drive-thru.
We spend less money per month then we did living at home. Our
motorhome heating bill is pretty small!
We put 17,759 miles on the scooter and 1,146 miles on the 20 inch
bicycles.
When asked "What is your favorite place?", our answer is always "The
People". We have met thousands of people and 99.99% were
delightful.
Our favorite state to visit is Alaska, it is just plain phenomenal.
We have taken 63,863 photos and put over 9,000 onto BigRigBible.com
as well as 333 weeks of travelogues.
We have hundreds of people traveling with us vicariously and we love
to feed their addiction, especially Art's.
We love getting personal emails but don't read "forwards".
We miss everyone when we are not home and look forward to our
visits.
But right now, we just have to go, I'm sure you understand.
