Week 70 - Port San Luis / Avila Beach - 12-16-2007

Hello again,

We finished last week off with a bicycle ride from Avila Beach, along the Bob Jones trail. We ended up at Avila Farms, which is a great fruit, vegetable and gift shop. Our friends, Ed and Sheryl, headed back to Ventura after the ride.

On Thursday, our son, Andrew helped James move his 43' Ketch from Port San Luis Harbor to Morro Bay. Here they are in Port San Luis as they lowered the boat into the water.

James is rejoicing as he gets to launch his boat for the first time in six months.

Leaving the port with Avila Bay in the background.

The crew still rejoicing as they reach the Morro Bay harbor where James will moor Rejoice.

Morro Rock sits at the entrance to Morro Bay Harbor. It's name is El Morro or The Pebble. It was first sited by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo in 1542. It is part of a nine peak range of volcanic plugs that starts with El Morro and stretches 21 miles to the last mound, Islay Hill, near the San Luis Obispo airport. The range is known as The Nine Sisters (also as The Seven Sisters, because that rhymes better!).

Pete spent the week preparing our 4-wheel drive, 250cc, Yamaha Timberwolf for sale. Many thanks to Frank for use of his shop and tools.

We are excited for next week when Emily and Melissa come home for the Christmas break. Until then,

Love, Pete and Ellen
