Week 54 - Michigan - 08-26-2007
Hello from Michigan,
After visiting with Tanya and Hildegarde last week, we headed to west
central Michigan. We had gone online and received a free 5-day stay at
Vacation Station RV Park in Ludington, Michigan. It was a nice park
with a pool and spa, just three miles from the eastern shore of Lake
Michigan. It was nice to stay put for a few days before we headed to
Wakarusa, Indiana to the Monaco factory.
Pete tested the water. It was very cold and no place for wimps. (64
degrees)
Lighthouse at the Ludington City Park.
There were beautiful clouds in the pictures above and below.
Four guys heading out to fish, take time to wave at a Ellen.
Ludington Harbor is gorgeous. It was lined with Petunias, as are many
of the main streets in Ludington.
A peaceful afternoon at Timber Trails RV Park in Decatur, Michigan.
A not so peaceful night at the same park. The thunder storm that did
so much damage in Chicago came our way 90 minutes later. We were given
a tornado warning and told to get out of our cars, trailers and mobile
homes and head for a ditch or low spot. We decided we would rather fly
like "Dorothy". We closed up the slides and made a fort under the
bed. Then Ellen went outside to watch it approach while Pete played
Sudoku. Were we prepared or what? The storm came rapidly and we shook
a little, but it passed just as quickly.
Pete is always thankful for Ellen's sunrise photos. Otherwise he would
never get to experience the sunrise!
At the end of the week we drove to Wakarusa, Indiana preparing for our
factory repair visit next week. We once again met up with our
neighbors, Ben and Sid. We will report about Indiana next week.
Our general plan has us visiting the ten remaining states on our way
back to SLO County. We will be home by December 15th.,
Love, Pete and Ellen
