It has been Pete's dream since 1984 to move our software business into a motorhome. One or two week trips to far away cities using motels and restaurants, gets old really fast. In 1984 the Fleetwood Southwind gas-powered motorhome retailed for $40,000.00. Fortunately, it was out our reach. Fortunate, because the communication tools you need to run a professional business were not available in the 1980's. But today they are and they are quite amazing both in capabilities and low cost.
Our phone service was from OneBox.com. Plans start at$14.00 per month (11-2022). The more robust plan we used provided:
1. An 800 number for our voice calls. It has 4 extensions with a professionally recorded announcement. Each extension can be forwarded to the same or different cell phones or land lines.
2. A voice mail system that takes your calls when you can't answer and sends them as .WAV files to your email account. Voice mail can be accessed by your phone as well.
3. An 800 number for incoming faxes. Your faxes are sent as .PDF files to your email account.
4. Outgoing faxes can be sent by connecting to OneBox.com, creating your fax and they send it to any fax number.
5. 2,000 minutes of incoming calls are allowed before additional charges. We have never gone over the voice or fax limit, but you might.
6. There are dozens of other features, many included and some at additional cost.
Now, we have a single place to get our email, our faxes and our voice mails. We can receive documents, print them, sign them, scan them and fax them back without leaving our motorhome.
We have been using OneBox since April of 2007, we love it and rate this service a 5.
