Week 528-529 - Horn of Plenty - 10-02-2016

Horn of Plenty

The last two weeks have been filled with family. We left Star Valley Ranch and headed to St. George, Utah for Pickleball. After a week of practice, we rented a Mustang and headed off to Paso Robles, California for the Horn Family Reunion. And it is not a small gathering.

When Pete first met Ellen in San Luis Obispo in 1973, all of Ellen's family lived in Southern California. Pete met Ellen's parents, Carl and Lillie in 1973 in Calabasas, California. Soon after, Pete was introduced to Ellen's siblings: Larry, Carla, Janice and Art and their spouses. Pete's adopted family grows! Carl and Lil visited the Central Coast several times and loved the area. In 1977 we purchased our 4-acre property in Atascadero and Carl and Lil bought a house close to Atascadero Lake. Carl purchased commercial property in Paso Robles, California with the intent of relocating Cornucopia; his plastics injection molding company.

Once Cornucopia moved to Paso Robles, Ellen's brother Larry moved up, as he worked in the company. Within a few more years, Ellen's sisters Carla and Janice and spouses moved to Paso Robles to the Horn Compound. Not too much later Art moved to North County as well. The family grows.

Back in 1974 at Pete and Ellen's wedding, the Horn family showed up from Southern California, Idaho, Florida and Arizona. Ellen's father Carl has two brothers Chuck and Ron and two sisters Betty Jean and Glenda. We have been together for countless weddings, anniversaries, reunions and any special event. The family grows! Today Ron and Anne are the only two remaining from their generation.

Ron decided it was time to visit Paso Robles. When the patriarch comes, the Horns gather, 100 of them! The family grows. It has been a few years since we gathered and what a blessing it was.

Uncle Ron came from Georgia.

After wonderful fellowship and a great meal at Art and Kelli's we gathered for photos.

And who? Ellen's best friend of 33 years, honorary Horn sister Janet and husband Brad. While Brad felt odd crashing the Horn Family reunion, he and Janet are big part of our lives. Janet has prepared meals for all our childrens' wedding and they are both givers with big hearts. The family grows!

Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. Psalm 127:3-5

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12

Uncle Ron, from all of us to you. "We were blessed to have you in our lives. May the Lord continue you in good health and joy."

We are truly grateful that God made us part of this family. Love, Pete, Ellen and Mandy

[Editors' notes: We have taken great care to correctly label the photos with the correct spelling of each name. Please notify us of any mistakes. And, we missed the 35 to 40 other family members that were not able to make it. See you next time.]
