Week 317-319 - History of BigRigBible.com - 09-23-2012

History of BigRigBible.com

In 2005 we began toying with the idea of traveling in a motorhome. Spurred on by our friend Bill who had just purchased a motorhome, we began to look on the web.  As analysts we wanted to do a thorough search, so we spent most every night for months finding every motorhome manufacturer in America. We looked at every floor plan of every model. By November we choose our 2006 Monaco Diplomat PAQ  and took delivery on 4-5-6.  We spent four months outfitting the "MotherShip" with what we needed and only what we needed to live and work while traveling.

On August 12th, 2006 we had a Bon Voyage party with a few dozen friends and family.  We put out an invitation  to anyone who wanted to receive an occasional email. The list was a few dozen people.  The first email was one photo and a short description.  As our travels continued, we were sending out emails most every week, sometimes two weeks. In time, these simple emails became themed travelogues.

By early 2008 we had met hundreds of travelers and lots of people that were intrigued by the idea of living full time in an RV.  We were peppered with questions   like: "How long have you been doing this? Don't you miss a house? Where have you been? How much does it cost? How do you get your mail? Where do you go to church?" and the list goes on. It was fun to share our experience and made us realize that we should document our experience . We began compiling our information and in May 2009 this collection became www.BigRigBible.com  Bible meaning "a complete reference" and Big Rig for "large motorhomes", the size you need to live full time.

Today after six years, BigRigBible is one of the largest and most informative websites about full time RV living and it grows every week.  It has 557 pages (Sep 2012) with over 7,200 photos with captions. We have 319 weeks of travelogues each with 20 to 30 photos. The travelogues have hundreds of readers and we hope to increase this to thousands.  To some the travelogues have become a weekly tradition. And we hear about it when at times we wait two or three weeks before next posting.

So for those sighers,  here's a tip.  When we fail to deliver a travelogue on Monday morning, just access our archive on www.BigRigBible.com.  Click on Free 1 Month Subscription  > > Log In   > Weekly Travelogues by Topic  . Then pick your topic alphabetically. For example: Angels Landing, Zion, Utah (week 8).   In that travelogue you can experience an amazing climb "up the chains" to the top. Or how about a little humor at the Great Salt Plains Lake, Oklahoma (see Oklahoma, Northern week 111). Or you heard about Lake Chelan, Washington with water as clear as a new swimming pool (week 102).

Our travelogues take anywhere from four to over 20 hours to create.   We enjoy bringing these to you and post them on our website to share with the world.  We are attempting to make our website the most popular on the web. There are many factors that make sites popular: accurate, relevant and meaningful content, links to and from other sites and lots of visitors (hint, hint).   If you visit our site and view many of the pages, that increases its popularity.

Please check out www.BigRigBible.com often and you will never be lonely on a Monday morning again!

Love, Pete, Ellen and Mandy

This special edition travelogue was brought to you as there is nothing new in our travel.
