Week 39 - Conyers GA and San Diego CA - 05-13-2007

Hello all y'all,

In May of 2006 at Las Vegas, we met Charlie and Cheryl from Georgia.  One evening we spent from 10 pm to 1 am talking with them. When we left, they gave us their  number and address in Conyers, GA.  We called them last Sunday and they insisted that we came by even though Ellen was sick.  We took Ellen to the doctor on Monday and went to their house.

They showed us incredible Southern Hospitality. They set up our motorhome on their lawn with electrical and water hookups.  Charlie drove Pete down to get Ellen's medicine.  Charlie, Pete and Cheryl talked late into the evening.  On Tuesday Ellen was feeling better and they took us to Stone Mountain Park, a beautiful place. On Tuesday and Wednesday, they drove us around, bought us meals and wouldn't let us do anything but enjoy ourselves. On Thursday morning they got up early and drove us to the Atlanta airport.  To Cheryl and Charlie: Thank you, you are very special people!

Thursday we arrived in San Diego to attend Chad's graduation from Point Loma Nazarene University, where Emily and Melissa attend.  We spent four days of fun, food and swimming.  The graduation was great and we met Chad's parents, Steve and Ester.

Charlie is a contractor and built their beautiful house in Conyers.

Our "campsite"

Stone Mountain Park centers around the USA's largest granite rock.  The single rock covers 583 acres!  The carving in the rock includes General Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis and Stonewall Jackson and covers 3 acres.  The park has a huge lake, beautiful campgrounds and endless trees.

Monday, we will take the train to Santa Barbara for Ellen's wrist operation on Tuesday.  Please continue in prayer for her.
