Our daily diary is our most important file. A two week sample is shown below. Everyday we add one simple line with the Date, Mileage, Location, Hookups, Rating and Daily Fee for parking. We also add notes of people we meet or events or anything special on this day. Using this file and our photos we can reconstruct every event down to the hour and minute. If you have ever written a diary, you know that eventually you forget a day or lose interest. This one takes only a few seconds and we put the entry in right after we park. It helps that Ellen takes hundreds of photos each week. Each photo has a date and time stamp. We can look at photos and identify the area by accessing our diary. We can search the diary and find photos for a place or person.
We use the windows Notepad text editor. It loads faster than Word or Wordpad and we don't need any special text features. For Apple we would use TextEdit.
